DIY Vegemite
If you grew up in Australia, chances are Vegemite was a crucial part of your childhood…and is likely still part your adult years! I have such fond memories of enjoying it daily for school lunches (usually either as a sandwich or squishing it between Vita-Weats to make those little ‘worms’…you know what I’m talking about!). These days, I prefer to make my own version. Dare I say…I think it tastes better than the original aaand it’s chock full of nutrients (calcium, potassium, B12, iron and omega 3 just to name a few!) This DIY Vegemite is super simple to whip up and best enjoyed exactly as you would normal Vegemite!
4 tablespoons tamari
6 heaped tablespoons nutritional yeast
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup black tahini (i.e. 5 tablespoons)
Blend everything together in a blender. Transfer to a jar and store in the fridge. Enjoy!
